Spring Duet Note Set

Spring Duet Note Set is the Poetry in Motion Spring 2026 edition of the project.

Poetry in Motion is a project born from the idea of celebrating the words of a poet, alongside the handwritten words of the sender, to explore what connections such a combination could spark.

And of course, I am eternally interested in the tangible quality of receiving handwritten words on paper and their potential to reinforce bonds that have perhaps been diluted by time, technology, or many other reasons.

I look for poems that evoke traditions, community and treasured relationships; nature, a sense of place, and belonging.

This edition’s poem is by writer and poet Niamh Donnellan and celebrates motherhood. It reminded me of that time in those early days, the beauty but repetitiveness of it, the tender moments found in mundane tasks. The newness and intense attention to growth, things so tangible in Spring (especially after the winter we’ve had!).

The brevity of it struck me too, as time is poor during that period and memories are often flashes, sensations, ephemeral; captured by a sleep deprived brain trying to make sense of this new era.
